Description:

The splendor of Russian north has been expressed in this work by Dmitry Tipyakov. The small church built in the rocky island is lit by the full moon, the century-old fir-trees rise above the calm water of the forest lake, the shabby houses of fishermen are built just on the lakeside, two small fishing boats are tied to the wicker fence, and nothing breaks the solemn silence of this warm summer night.
The scene is painted in the realistic style using various shades of blue and brown oils. The trees, the ground and the houses are highlighted with silver powder.
The scene is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title (“The Moon”) and the year of 2007.
