Description: The famous Fedoskino landscape painter, Mikhail Papyonov, is a creator of this picturesque view of the ancient Russian town of Suzdal. The small white stoned cathedral that raises above the snow covered wooden peasant houses looks so beautiful painted against the boundless Russian snowy expanses. The fence that encircles the cathedral and some of the peasant houses shine brightly being painted over silver paint.
The scene is framed with a gold line; gold is also used to outline the edges of the lid. The box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer mixed with silver and gold powder. The box's interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed in gold paints with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the title (“Suzdal”) on the lid's interior.
