Inessa Kombarova of Fedoskino is the artist who painted this gorgeous box. Kombarova has received much acclaim over the years for her work. Her original works have appeared in many books on lacquer art.
The box shows the beautiful butterfly sitting on the big golden flower. The gold flower shines brightly being painted in gold paints against the black lacquer. Gold metal leaf shines through the butterfly's wing, and details the flower's petals. On the box's sides the artist has painted in gold the flower's petals that form together an original pattern. The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and dark red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Fedoskino and the title ("'Butterfly") on the box's exterior bottom.
