Description:

The famous canvas-on-oil painting "Portrait of Napoléon on the Imperial Throne" inspired Yevgeniy Dokuchaev to create this brilliant work. It was originally painted in 1806 by Jean-August-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867), an outstanding French Neoclassical painter. This masterpiece is exhibited in the Musée de l'Armée in Paris, France.
The portrait is painted very close to the original using bright tones of oils. Napoleon wears sumptuous coronation robes (he was crowned in 1804) and holds the sceptre of Charles V and the hand of justice of Charlemagne. Steps lead up to his throne, the back of which forms a kind of halo above his head.Gold paint is used to detail Napoleon's costume, and to create brilliance of the throne, the cushion under Napoleon's legs, and some other elements.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the portrait, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
