Fedoskino artist Alexander Kriger created this attractive box. It features the Snowmaiden strolling in the winter forest and speaking with two small birds and a Bunny.
Here the artist has splendidly managed to reproduce the feeling of a fresh and heavy snow just felt down in the forest. The palette incorporates grey and white oils as the action takes place in winter. The Snowmaiden's costume is finished with furs and has attractive ornaments.
The composition is very contrasting—the white snow to the brown trunks of the trees and again the snow on the fronds of the trees to pink color of uncovered Snowmaiden's hands and her face. The painting is pretty much detailed!
The two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on a flat buttom. Signed with the name of the artist, Fedoskino, and the year of 2006.
