This beautiful winter landscape has been painted by Shevalkin Konstantin. In this work the artist has managed to express a special charm of the Russian countryside with its wooden peasant houses, white-stoned churches and wicker fences.
The scene is painted in blue tones of oils over a shining silver powder that creates brilliance of the snow, the clouds, the fence and the wooden house painted in the foreground. A piece of mother-of-pearl that has pink and green undertones is set into the church.
The scene is framed with an elegant gold pattern composed of two parallel gold lines. The box's sides are decorated with the beautiful tartan ornament painted in gold paint, and also in white and grey oils.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, and the year of 2007.
