This surprisingly beautiful box has been painted by Yuriy Aldoshkin. It shows a picturesque view of the the St. Isaak's Cathedral and the Peter and Paul Fortress from the side of the Neva River.
The scene is painted in different shades of blue oils. The architecture, and the ship painted in the foreground are detailed with gold paint. Silver paint is used to highlight the water of the river but in very minimal amounts.
The scene is framed with a gold line; another wide gold line wraps around the box's sides. The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer mixed with gold and silver powder. The interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. It is hinged from the top of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed by the author.
