Description: Anzhela Mikhalyova created this originally shaped box that shows the town of Suzdal at early spring. The ice on the river has recently melted, but the riverbanks are still covered with white snow. The artist is enchanted with a modest beauty of the Russian countryside with its ramshackle wooden peasant huts, shabby fences and white-stoned, golden-domed medieval cathedrals.
This divine scene is brilliantly painted, and has a calming effect on the soul. Some areas are richly highlighted with silver and gold paint. A large piece of mother-of-peal that shimmers with a variety of tints is set into the middle of the scene. Each dandelion painted in the foreground shines beautifully with silver bluish tones.
The box's exterior is decorated with gorgeous gold ornaments detailed with brown oils.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed by the author.
