Description:

This peaceful summer landscape has been painted by Alexander Kozlov, the son of famous Fedoskino Master Sergey Kozlov.
It is a warm summer evening. The full moon illuminates a narrow village street. The windows of the peasant wooden houses are lit. A man walks along the street with his dog. The depicted scene reflects a special charm and beauty of the Russian countryside.
Light grey tones of oils help the artist to reproduce an atmosphere of a summer evening. Gold paint is used to paint the crosses of the cathedral, and to create a light source in the windows, and its reflection on the ground. Silver paint highlights the fence drawn in the foreground, and the road. Mother-of-pearl creates brilliance of the full moon and the clouds.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The scene is framed with a nice gold pattern. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom.
