This attractive box is a creation of the famous Fedoskino artist Yuriy Mikhalyov. It shows a small white stoned church built in the center of Moscow. The scene is nicely painted using white and light green oils against the black background. Gold powder is used to create a sparkle of the cobblestone pavement in the foreground.
The box is made of high-quality paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The scene is framed with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2007.
