Description:

This interesting work has been painted by Pavel Senitskiy. Here the artist has chosen to depict a scene from the fairy-tale "Morozko" or "Father Frost". Morozko is a spirit of nature who reigns in the forest in winter. One day he meets the girl who is sent to the forest on a bitterly cold night by her cruel stepmother. He blows at the poor girl with his frost breathing, but in spite of her suffering, the girl greets him politely and does not complain about her condition. It is interesting that Morosko is painted here like a young man whereas in most of the works he is depicted as an old man.
The scene is beautifully painted in white, grey and blue tones of oils that fit excellently for reproduction of a winter landscape. The box's exterior imitates a stone color (dark grey and green blurry spots are scattered against the light grey background). The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge has been fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on the flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the year of 2004.
