Description: Margarita Belova is the exceptional talent behind this work of art. Here the artist has painted the Allegory of Love. She imagines Love as a beautiful girl whose curly hair fly in the wind. The girl stands on the sunny, green meadow surrounded with white peonies and daisies. The white doves that symbolize Innocence hover near her, and the tiny elves hold a spring wildflower wreath over her head.
Various shades of green, blue and white oils have been used to compose this impressive miniature. It is fascinating how much detail and scenery has been composed upon such a small surface.By altering the size of the flowers the artist develops exquisite depth. The girl's figure has been painted upon a gorgeous inlay of mother-of-pearl that adds a third dimension to her appearance.
The box's exterior is decorated with elegant silver scan patterns (aluminum punch-outs have been interlocked to produce beautiful silver patterns that shine brightly against the black lacquer both on the lid and the sides).
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The edges of the box's red lacquered interior are sprinkled with black paint.A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title ("Love") and the village of Fedoskino.
