This unique piece of superior Russian artistry was composed by the talented Marina Rogatova of Fedoskino. Rogatova's expression of originality is a key element in all of her work, this piece is no exception. Simply put, the piece stands out. The small square box shows a bee hovering over fresh wild flowers. The whole surface of the box's exterior (except the box's exterior bottom) is covered with beautiful flowers drawn in shinning silver paint. A brilliant piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the center of the scene. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer while the interior is painted with a deep red lacquer.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. On the lid's interior the artist has written her name, and the year of 2007.
