Vladimir Serdodetskov of Fedoskino is the artist who painted this landscape. The time of year is obviously early autumn, as the foliage of some trees start to fade. The colors during this time of year are astonishing to look at. The palette used by the artist is a reflection for the time of year depicted here. Earth tones make up the majority of the colors to convey the slow turning of the landscape into what will be bare and awaiting winter. Silver powder shines through the oils in some areas of the scene strengthening the colors.
The scene is framed with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides. The box's sides imitate marble (blue blurry spots are scattered against the black lacquered background).
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2008.
