The famous Fedoskino landscape painter, Vladimir Serdodetskov, painted this peaceful summer scene. On the box's lid he has drawn a quiet village street, and on the box's sides he continued to paint greenery of the summer landscape.
The palette used by the artist is a reflection for the time of year depicted here. Green tones make up the majority of the colors. Gold paint is used to highlight the haystack and some of the houses. Gold dust is sprinkled throughout the composition for added flair and pull for the eye.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box's exterior bottom is covered with black lacquer while the interior is covered with red lacquer. The box has a hinge above the scene and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
