Description:

This gorgeous large box has been drawn by Ye. Kunts from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the feast arranged in the Prince Vladimir's palace. Painted in the realistic style, this work may help the viewer to imagine vividly the regal way of life in the medieval Russia.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints. Gold paint is used to detail the costumes of the characters' and some of the tableware whereas silver paint creates a sparkle of the windows. The artist has taken advantage of the original positioning of each of the characters, and has painted each face with extreme life-like detail and expression.
An elegant pattern painted in gold and accented with red oil paints encompasses the scene. The similar pattern of a larger size can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache made. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2008.
