Description: This alluring creation was composed by the well-known Fedoskino artist Yuriy Butsinskiy. Studying under such famous artists as G.I. Larishev and S.P. Rogatov, Butsinskiy has developed a masterful ability to dictate creativity through composition.
The beauty of a frosty winter night has been masterfully expressed here. The palette uses colors that provide the viewer with a realistic, photo-quality, composition that leaves one breathless. One piece of mother-of-pearl mixed with silver powder creates a sparkle of the full moon while another one shines through the ice on the river. Aluminum powder helps to produce a sparkle of the snow. Gold paint highlights some of the dry plants, and creates a light source in the windows of the peasant house.
The scene is framed with two parallel gold lines. A gold line can be also found wrapping around the bottom part of the box's sides. Emerald oil paint mixed with aluminum powder covers the edges of the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat botttom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title (“Winter has Come”), and the year of 2008.
