This beautiful seascape has been drawn by Ilya Buzovkin. A sailing ship is rocking on the waves. It is anchored not far from the sandy shore; to the right of it the Crimean rocks are depicted.
Buzovkin achieves some very good textures here. The water, particularly in the foreground, looks strikingly realistic. The forms in the distance are naturally less detailed, creating a sense of depth. The scene is quite calm and peaceful.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The exterior is decorated with nice gold ornaments. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2006.
