Natalya Gogina is the author of this box. Here she has drawn some peasants who shoe a horse near the smithery. The scene is masterfully painted in the realistic style.
A gold skan design wraps around the sides of the box. Skan are individual gold punchouts that are applied to the box during the drying process of the lacquer.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four rounded feet. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2005 on the box's exterior bottom.
