This set of fine Russian artistry was created by well known Fedoskino master Yelena Aldoshkina. Yelena is a skilled master. Her ability to portray mood and energy through composition is second to none. The set includes four small boxes that portray the seasons:: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. The boxes rest on a square plate.
Young beautiful girls painted on the lids of the boxes represent different seasons. The aesthetics of the work are tremendous, which is brought across by the immense talent possessed by the artist. The detailed brushwork is enhanced by the gold found in the leaves of the trees and the flowers, and by the mother-of-pearl inlay that shines in the middle of each box's lid. The overlay method of application increases the depth and texture. By painting one portion of the composition, applying a layer of clear lacquer over it and then painting additional portions of the scene on top of it, the goal is dramatically achieved. This is an extremely evident in the branches of the trees and flowers. Sincerely attractive.
The decoration of each box is the same. The edges of the lid are decorated with a sparkling gold line; another gold line can be found wrapping around the sides of the box. The sides of the lid are adorned with big gold dots. The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer mixed with gold powder. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
Each box and the plate are made out of high quality paper-mache. The lid of each box is hinged from the top of the scene, and each box rests on a flat bottom. The square plate, on which the boxes rest on, is decorated with luxuriant gold ornaments detailed with brown oil paint. Each box is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2008.
