This exceptional piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by the talented Tatyana Tipyakova of Fedoskino. In this work she has beautifully painted the bright sunset over the forest pond. A layered combination of orange and yellow toned oils creates the immensely realistic haze of the setting sun. The entire landscape bathes in the radiant glow of atmospheric brilliance. By adding darker tones and more precise detail to the grass in the foreground and the tree in the left upper corner, Tipyakova creates deep perspective. Gold paint shines magically through the oils strengthening the effect of the sunset radiance. The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is outlined with gold, and two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
