The well-known Fedoskino artist Alexey Chirkov is the creator of this gorgeous box. Alexey is fond of owls, and he has already created a series of works dedicated to these enigmatic birds of prey. This is another work from this series. Here Master picked up very unusual shape of the box--a New Moon! The work is called “The Night Inhabitants”, and shows Mother Owl with their nestlings.
The scene is masterfully drawn. The night sky shimmers dramatically as it has been painted over silver powder. More brilliance and luster come from pieces of mother-of-pearl that shine brightly with glimmering blue, green and violet tones in the lower part of this box. Gold paint is used to detail the trees, the owls, the nest and a lot of other details.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, Fedoskino and the year of 2008.
