Description:

The famous canvas-on-oil painting "Portrait of Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries" inspired Yevgeniy Dokuchaev to create this brilliant work.
Napoleon Bonaparte was the emperor of France in the early 1800s. Like many leaders at that time, he had his own palace. Great artists were asked to paint pictures of him. Napoleon's favorite artist Jacques-Louis David originally painted this portrait in 1812. The original painting is exhibited in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C, as a part of Samuel H. Kress Collection.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. Gold paint can be also found throughout the depicted portrait. Napoleon's costume, the furniture and the sword painted in the foreground are detailed with a brilliant gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
