Description:

This small oval box is an enchanting creation of Svetlana Korotkikh. It shows a little girl sitting in the blooming garden, and setting a small bird free. The golden cage is empty, and the kind girl says goodbye to her favorite pet. She doesn't notice the cat that steals up to the bird, and intends to eat it.
Green tones predominate here as the action takes place in the summer garden. Brilliant gold paint is used to paint the cage. The edges of the lid are decorated with an original pattern composed of gold dots. More complex gold pattern accented with emerald-green and brown oils can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2006 and the village of Fedoskino.
