Description: This magnificent box has been painted by T. Kosheleva from the village of Fedoskino. It is called "Granny's Garden", and shows the girl and her granny strolling in the beautiful garden. The composition also includes a multitude of various flowers: roses, lilies, daisies, etc.; and different insects: butterflies, snails, dragonflies, ladybirds, etc. Each of them is scrupulously painted, and has an individual look. Gold paint highlights yellow roses painted in the foreground, the clock over which the angel is painted, and the granny's wide-brimmed hat. The painting is extended on the lid's front side.
The box's sides are decorated with a number of very thin and almost invisible metal blue and pink threads.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed, titled and dated (2002) by the artist on the lid's interior.
