Description: This interesting work has been painted by Svetlana Khrustalyova. It shows the characters from different Russian fairy-tales. Here we can see the bogatyr riding his mighty steed, maidens and princesses, Brother Ivanushka who turned into the kid in one of the tales, and the golden chest hanging on the old oak with Koshchey's death inside .
The scene is pained in various shades of blue oils; the exception is the faces and the costumes of the characters drawn in light brown and red tones. Brilliant gold paint shines through the oils and creates brilliance of the bogatyr's shield, the steed's harness, the samovar, the table and various jugs painted on it, the girls' jewelry, and some other minor elements. More radiance comes from the pieces of mother-of-pearl inlaid into the bogatyr's chain armor and into the dresses of the girls painted to the left and to the right of the bogatyr.
The box's exterior is covered with turquoise green lacquer that tones beautifully with the palette of the depicted scene. The interior is traditionally red. A rich and complex gold floral pattern wraps around the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. It has a hinge to its left and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
