This exquisite work is a creation of one of the top Fedoskino artists, Pavel Anokhin. He is a very popular artist on a worldwide scale with collectors who specialize in the painting of lacquer miniatures. His works have been in exhibitions, and can be found in galleries in France, Holland, America, Germany, and England.
Using a delicate palette filled with light blue oils Anokhin has painted here beautiful girls having a rest on the riverside after bathing. A subtle transition of various shades of light blue oils and the use of shadows and light help the artist to create the atmosphere a moonlit night. The scene is painted in the surrealistic style typical for all Anokhin's works.
The exterior of the box's lid imitates a stone color (dark blue blurry spots are scattered against the light blue background) while the exterior of the box's base is covered with black lacquer. The box's interior is covered with dark red lacquer. The gold metal button is attached to the box's lid for ease of opening.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
