This fascinating box is a creation of Khrustalyova from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the portrait of a beautiful lady painted in the style of French impressionism of the 19th century.
The portrait is passionately painted in the juicy yellow, pink and blue oils. Mother-of-pearl and gold metal leaf shine through the lady's dress. The portrait is framed with a lustrous gold band.
The decoration of the box pays a special attention. The box's exterior imitates coloring of pink marble. The exterior is also decorated with the original pattern composed of a number of cross-cut bands; some of these bands are light pink, while the others shine with gold metal leaf inlay. In the middle of the box's exterior bottom the full-length silhouette of an elegant lady holding the parasol is painted in light pink oils against the pink background of a darker tone. The interior is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
