The box is constructed from paper-mache. Bright blue lacquer mixed with gold dust is used to paint its exterior while red lacquer mixed with gold dust completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat base. The work is signed, dated (2009) and titled (“Tinkling of Bells”) by the artist in gold paints on the lid's interior.
