Description: This luxuriant box is an original artistic creation of one of the leading Fedoskino artists, Vladislav Maslov. On the box's lid the artist has painted his most favorite fairy-tale character - the forest witch, Baba-Yaga. She comes back home riding the broom and carries the healing herbs in the basket. The skulls with glowing eyeholes are at the top of the fence that surrounds her hut on chicken legs. Huge toadstools grow in her yard. She is the evil mistress of the forest and little children are afraid of her very much.
Dark blue oils predominate here as the action takes place at night. With the presence of aluminum and gold powders that highlight the composition, the artist has managed to create a magic atmosphere. Shimmering pieces of mother-of-pearl are set into the full moon, into some of the leaves falling down from the tree, and they also shine through the brilliant , wavy band that frames the composition.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The artist continues to paint the leaves falling down from the trees on the box's sides. The box's exterior bottom is covered with black lacquer and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box rests on four pearl beads. On the lid's interior a square shaped piece of mother-of-pearl is glued; the title of the work, the artist's name and the year of 2009 is written on it.
