This adorable box has been painted by one of the leading Fedoskino artists, Yelena Aldoshkina. The box's lid is richly decorated. In the middle of the lid the rectangular piece of mother-of-pearl is glued. On this shining pearl surface the artist has painted the flowering field. The butterfly hovers over the bright wild flowers enjoying their fresh aroma. This beautiful scene is encompassed with a gold metal frame adorned with floral relief work.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer while the interior of the box's base is covered with a creamy white velvety material. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on four small, rounded gold metal legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
