Description: This splendid Fedoskino box that features two pretty maidens wearing bright kerchiefs is a creation of Nina Pershina (born in 1956). Nina Pershina since her childhood has become interested in painting. In 1977 she graduated from the Fedoskino Art School. Her teachers were Antonov and Marchukov. She lives and works in Fedoskino. Nina has transferred her talent and skill to her son, Leonid Dubovikov, who also finished the Fedoskino Art School.
The scene is painted in the realistic style. Bright red, orange and green tones are used to paint the costumes of the maidens whereas the surrounding landscape is painted in white and light blue tones suitable for depiction of a winter scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed at the bottom of the scene with the artist's name, and the year of 2009.
