Description:

This large oval box is a creation of the famous Fedoskino portrait painter, Galina Dubovikova. Here she has depicted her interpretation of the canvas-on-oil painting "Portrait of the Artist's Children" originally painted in 1885 by Ivan Kuzmich Makarov (1822 - 1897). This masterpiece is exhibited and can be currently seen in the Omsk Regional Art Museum named after Vrubel.
Ivan Kuzmich Makarov was a Russian painter. He was a son of the serf painter Kuzma Aleksandrovich Makarov. Under the education of Alexey Markov, Ivan Makarov chose the portrait painting, participating also in paintings of Spassky Cathedral.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
