This adorable box is a creation of one of the leading modern Fedoskino artists, Pavel Anokhin. Born in 1967 in the in the city of Dolgoprudniy located near Moscow, Anokhin graduated from the Fedoskino Art School in 1989 and from 1992-95 he worked in the Fedoskino Art School as a teacher. The artist prefers to create his own themes and invent the scenes that can be called "dreams about the beautiful" according to his own words. Anokhin's approach to lacquer miniature art is philosophical as he puts his thoughts behind every work.
The scene painted on this box can be also rendered as philosophical. It shows a beautiful maiden dozing peacefully on the knees of her lover. This scene is framed with a gold band, and along this band the artist has written the following phrase in Russian using gold paints:

"... flowers are blooming only in spring and summer,
but the real love will never fade.
These words mean that the real love doesn't depend on age, time, place or anything else. The palette includes light blue and brown-grey tones. Gold metal powder shines through the lad's hair.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and very dark crimson lacquer (almost black) covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. In the middle of the box's exterior bottom there is an oval shaped dent. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the title (“Flowers”).
