Description:

This beautiful view of the Moscow Kremlin has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist Vladimir Monashov, who specializes in painting the different architecture scenes.
In the foreground we can see the St. Basil's Cathedral and in the background Monashov has depicted a fragment of the red bricked wall with its towers and the Kremlin's white stoned cathedrals including (from left to right) the Assumption Cathedral, the Annunciation Cathedral, the Archangel Cathedral, the Belfry of Ivan the Great, the Senate Building, and some others.
The detail of the architecture is worked out with the utmost precision and is painted to the correct proportions. Brilliance of the cupolas and crosses of the cathedrals is achieved with the help of golden paint.
The composition is painted in the realistic style using various tones of oils. The palette is enhanced by silver metal powder and mother-of-pearl inlay. Silver metal powder shines through the architecture of the Kremlin's wall and also is used to highlight the clouds in the sky and the trees. Mother-of-pearl is inlaid in the central part of the composition where St.Basil's Cathedral is painted.
The composition is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009 and the village of Fedoskino.
