Description: MPORTANT NOTE! THIS BOX WAS DISPLAYED IN ALL_RUSSIA MUSEUM OF FOLK AND APPLIED ART AT THE EXPO (20th of Nov 2013-20th of Jan 2014).THE EXPO WAS GUIDED BY WELL-KNOWN LACQUER BOX EXPERT LUDMILA PIROGOVA. WE ARE PROUD TO SAY THAT SOME OF THE BOXES ON OUR SITE ARE OF MUSEUM QUALITY!
Yuriy Aldoshkin of Fedoskino is an exceptional talent behind this intricate beauty. It is one of the more elaborate architechtural/landscape pieces that any collector will come across. Aldoshkin has fine tuned his skill in such a way that the mere thought of Fedoskino realism brings to mind Aldoshkin's name.
The box shows a beautiful view of the ancient Cathedral of town of Dmitrov, located only 50 km from Moscow. The road is coming down from a Cathedral and going to the left and to the right. Small village houses are covered with the white snow. We can see a smoke from the oven of one of the houses and two small figures on a road, one of them is carring water on the shoulder-yoke.
Aldoshkin uses here a palette that implements very cool tones throughout the scene. He sets the scene during winter to match the colors in the architecture, which brings out the quiet and spiritual atmosphere of the monastery. Each angle is precise that helps provide an accurate portrayal of the perspectives in the scene. The lines are delicately configured with a manipulation of paint that gives this painting a photo-like quality.
The scene is framed with a gold band, another gold band can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title ("Sweetheart view..."), the village of Fedoskino and the year of 2006 on the lid's interior.
