This small and very detailed box has been painted by famous artist Sergey Rogatov from the village of Fedoskino. It shows children skating on an ice of a frozen river. Looks like the artist was inspirited by this view from the window of his house or on a walk to a river Ucha, where Fedoskino is located.
This composition is painted in several two main colors -light blue, white and silver that are the most suitable for depiction of a winter scene. The figures of the skaters are multi-colored and they are standing out of the bright and lite tones of the winter landscape.
The composition is framed with a gold line and rest of the top and the sides of the box are decorated with gold ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior of the sides of the box and dark red lacquer covers the interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the name of the artist and a year (2009) at the bottom of the composition.
