Description: This interesting box has been painted by a talented Fedoskino artist Alexander Chirkov.
Here Chirkov has depicted an elegant lady strolling along the embankment of Neva River in St. Petersburg with a little dog on a leash. May be at this moment famous poet Pushkin recites this lady his genius poetry?
At the background, on the opposite bank of the river we can see some famous St. Isaac Cathedral and some ships.
The scene is painted in different shades of blue and gray. These tones correspond perfectly for depiction of the city called "Russian Venice". Mother-of-pearl shines through the building , while another piece of mother of pearl is set into the river. The buildings are mostly in “warm” brown colors.
The scene is framed with a thick golden line.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Dark blue lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, name of the work-“In St. Petersburg” and the year of 2010.
