Eduard Makarov is the artist who painted this inteeting and unusual box.Makarov lives in town of Lobnya (not far from Fedoskino) and teaches at the Fedoskino Art School. He is one of the artists in the Fedoskino who are breaking all of the rules of tradition to expand the artistic horizons for the future!
The theme of Paseidon inspired the artist to create this work. The box shows Paseidon who has catch a large fish and going with it... The surface of the box shows the beauty of the underwater kingdom. It seems that the entire ocean filled with various species of fish and corals has been displayed here.
Like in most of his works, here the artist has created a multi-layered composition to get a three-dimensional effect. The palette is based on a deep navy blue tone of oils that is enriched by shining mother-of-pearl inlays, silver and gold paints, silver and gold powders, and silver scan elements.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The box has red lacquered interior. On the box's exterior bottom the artist has written his name, Fedoskino, Russia, the year of 2008 and the title ("The Underwater Games of Neptune").
