Description:

This interesting work has been created by the prominent Fedoskino artist, Vladimir Rogatov. Known for museum quality compositions, singular in their structure and design, Rogatov displays the ability to take us on a different adventure with each coming work. Creative originals that are as memorable as they are aesthetically appealing.
The box continues the artist' series of works dedicated to the tsar's army of the prerevolutionary Russia. In this series the artist tries to depict officers and soldiers of the tsar's army historically correct. He pays a special attention to the military uniform and weapon of that period.
The box shows the officers of the Kirasirsk regiment in 1834. Working on this theme the artist could use some old paintings to depict the officers historically correct. The scene is painted in dark grey oils against the cream background.
The scene is framed with a thing gold line. There are some additional geometrical patterns from the top and bottom of the composition. They are painted in gold and accented with dark brown oils. Inside the bottom one the artist has painted the title of the work. On the box's sides Rogatov has painted his signature patterns composed of thin gold rays coming out of a single point.
The box is constructed from high-grade papier-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the title.
