Description:

This exquisite portrait of a woman with the mandolin was painted by a well-known Fedoskino artist Galina Dubovikova. It is an excellent representation of Fedoskino realism. The artist has expertly implemented shade and tone to create this life-like portrait of an upper class woman, who is a pleasure to behold. The artist does a wonderful job of bringing the woman to life with rich hues and luminosity; the shine in her hair, the crystal clarity of her eyes, the rose of her skin, and the shimmer of her white lace dress. The interior of the room where the woman is sitting is also expertly painted.
The original of this composition was painted by talented Russian artist Khariton Platonov(1842-1907) in oil on canvas.
The portrait is framed with a thin gold line. On the box's sides an artist has drawn two parallel golden lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the year of 2009.
