This box painted on the religious theme is a wonderful creation of Irina Ivanova from the village of Fedoskino. It shows the Blessed Virgin praying inside the chapel.
The structure of the composition is perfectly worked out here. The three-dimensional effect is achieved by two arches that open a view of the chapel's interior. The décor of the arch painted on the box's lid is crafted three-dimensionally as well as the décor of the column painted on the right side of the lid. The depth of the composition is strengthened by a square piece of mother-of-pearl set into the window of the chapel. Another oval shaped piece of mother-of-pearl can be found on the top of the box's lid. This oval piece is adorned with intricate gold scan patterns (made of tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal sheets, and then glued to the box manually). In the center of this oval piece the artist has painted a snail; the tiny snail can be also found in the nearest foreground of the composition. The box's exterior imitates the red marble (black veins cover the dark red background) while it's interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The box's exterior bottom is covered with brown oils mixed with gold powder. The box is made out of paper-mache; it is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2009 on the lid's interior.
