In this majestic work Fedoskino artist, Vlad Maslov, shows his version of the fantasy novel “The Lord of the Rings” written by philologist J.R.R. Tolkien.
Combining dark blue tones of oils with a sparkle of mother-of-pearl inlay artist has managed to express a magical atmosphere of the novel. This atmosphere is strengthened by gold and silver powders as well as by applying three-dimensional elements as the trees, their branches and roots and the falling leaves. A grandiose work has been done to create such an impressive box.
The box's exterior is covered with various scenes from the novel. Its interior is covered with red lacquer. The interior is decorated with intricate ornaments painted in blue and green oils. The rectangular plate of mother-of-peal is glued in the center of the lid's interior. On this rectangular purl plate the artist has written his name and the title of the work. Just above it the leaf-shaped plate of mother-of-pearl is glued to the lid's interior.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four legs.
