Davydova from the village of Fedoskino has created a series of boxes that show butterflies hovering over flowers. This beautiful box is also painted on this theme.
The box's lid, and its exterior bottom show bright butterflies hovering over red tulips. The same butterflies and tulips can be found decorating the box's interior. Gold metal leaf shines brilliantly through the wings of each butterfly.
Both the box's exterior and interior are covered with light pink lacquer, the whole surface of this light pink area is decorated with shining gold dust blurry spots.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2009.
