Description:

This interesting work is a creation of Nikolay Demiyanenkov from the village of Fedoskino. The piece is made of papier mache, and repeats the shape of a flask. On the front side of the piece the artist has painted an old man looking at two kittens playing near the barrel. The piece is supplemented with three-dimensional elements; the kittens, a fragment of the barrel and the imitation of the flask's lid are crafted three-dimensionally. The lid is hinged to the reverse side of the box and can be opened with the help of a small metal loop. To imitate the flask more vividly the piece is supplied with the leather string attached to two metal loops, so there is an illusion that this flask can be hung on the shoulder. The box's exterior is covered with dark brown lacquer and hued in some places with gold powder. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The depicted scene, the lid and the imitation of a lid are adorned with simple gold ornaments. The work is signed with the artist's name on the lid's interior.
