Andrey Gaiduk is the author of this splendid view of old Moscow. The depicted scene was originally by Pyotr Vereshchagin (1834-1886) in 1879. Entitled "The Moscow Kremlin View", this masterpiece is kept in a private collection.
The beautifully designed box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is framed with a gold line while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title ("Moscow").
