Description:

Igor Yevmenenko is the talented Fedoskino artist who painted this impressive mythological scene. Getting inspiration from Raphael's art heritage, the artist has painted this work. The depicted scene was originally created in 1777 by Anton Raphael Mengs (1728-1779), a German painter, who worked in Rome, Madrid and Saxony, who became one of the precursors to Neoclassical painting. Called "Perseus and Andromeda" , this masterpiece is currently exhibited in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
Perseus is a virtuous hero in Greek mythology. A model of chivalry, he rescued his future bride, Andromeda, from a monster and his mother from a powerful king. A brave and resourceful adventurer, he ranks among the greatest monster-slayers of Greek mythology.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is framed with a gold line while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the year of 2010.
