Description:

This box was painted by talented artist Boris Shavirin. The original composition was painted by French painter William Bouguereau.
William Bouguereauwas born in La Rochelle on November 30, 1825, the second of four children. Bouguereau began his artistic training in 1838, attending drawing lessons with Louis Sage, a former pupil of Jean-Dominique Ingres, a well-known neo-classical painter. His training was interrupted in 1841 after his father moved the family to Bordeaux. William boarded with his uncle, Eugine, who introduced him to many of his friends for whom he painted portraits. After gaining enough money from commissions, William moved to Paris in March of 1846. He enrolled in courses under the celebrated Francois-Edouard Picot, who he then persuaded to recommend him for entry into the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.In 1876 he was elected to the Acadmie des Beaux-Arts de l'Institut de France.
Artist Shavirin did a very good job. The figures and faces are painted very precisely, shadows on the clothes are very well done too.
The box is made of paper-mache, the box is signed with the artist's name and name of the village-Fedoskino.
