Description:

This brilliantly painted sentimental scene is a creation of the famous Fedoskino artist, Nina Pershina. Khariton Plantonov's oil painting on canvas entitled "Little Nanny" inspired the artist to create this box. Painted in 1880, this masterpiece is exhibited in the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after V.P. Sukachev.
Khariton Plantonovich Plantonov (1842 - 1907) was an outstanding Russian painter and graphic artist. He came from a peasant family. He studied at the IAH (1859-1870). During the years of study was awarded a small silver (1862, Etude, 1867, drawing from life), a large silver (1866, sketch from nature) medals, in 1870 received the title of class artist of the 3rd degree.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is framed with a gold line while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2010.
