This small oval box has been created by Yuliya Danilina from the village of Fedoskino. Danilina paints her works in the original style and likes to depict woman's portraits. This box shows a romantic lady dressed in the elegant clothing that reflects the fashion of the nineteenth century. The lady is painted in subtle oils over shining gold metal leaf inlay.
The scene is framed with a simple gold pattern that is repeated on the bottom part of the box's body. The box's exterior is decorated with a beautiful pattern painted in gold powder and brown oils that looks like a stone color.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2010.
